“Turandot” 30”W x 63 1/2”H x 12 1/2”D, The princess was found as an illustration for the opera “Turandot” from 1920’s Paris by George Barbier. She is composed of hundreds of pieces of variously colored veneers of different species. The case is of bubinga and afromosia and sits on a stand of mahogany. There are two shelves inside the case. The stand has the Chinese elements of a cloud-lift apron, and stylized horse hoof legs.
